‘Mimosas for Memories’ Raises a Record $80,000 for Local Older Adults Living with Alzheimer’s and Dementia and Their Caregivers

CINCINNATI, OH – May 6, 2022 – The Giving Voice Foundation is thrilled to announce its seventh annual Mimosas for Memories fundraising event was a raving success, raising a record $80,000 in support of local older adults living with Alzheimer’s and dementia and their caregivers. This is double the amount it raised at last year’s event, and the most it has ever raised through a single event.

The sold-out fundraiser was held on Saturday, April 30 at the University Club of Cincinnati. More than 300 people attended to raise awareness and funds for the Giving Voice Foundation’s crucial programming, which facilitates cross-generational conversations and connections to improve the health of older adults through advocacy, education, engagement and storytelling.

The stylish and sophisticated event was the best attended to-date. It included bottomless mimosas, brunch by the bite, a macaron bar, local vendor pop-ups, a red-carpet photo booth, and a silent auction featuring 20+ date night and Cincinnati-themed packages valued at more than $5,000 in total. A highly coveted 20-year bottle of Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon, valued at $3,000, was also raffled off to one lucky winner. VIP ticket holders also enjoyed a seated brunch. Nearly 850 mimosas were served, and 1,000 brunch bites were consumed at the event.

Guests also heard from an inspiring local participant’s family, while they reveled in shared connection and engaging conversations about important issues that affect the Greater Cincinnati community’s most vulnerable.

Alzheimer’s disease and dementia affects nearly every family in America. About 1 in 9 Americans ages 65 and older has Alzheimer’s.

The record $80,000 raised through the Mimosas for Memories event is being directly funneled to support Giving Voice Foundation programs aimed at improving the lives of local older adults.

“These vital funds will touch and provide support for the more than 125,000 older adults with dementia and their caregivers who live in our Tri-state community,” said Christian Gausvik, MD, Founder and President of the Giving Voice Foundation. “The support, generosity and positivity our programs have received is palpable, and we truly cannot thank our supporters enough.”
