So get ready to make more memories that you can share with others!

1. Coney Island and Sunlite Pool

This historic theme park has been around since 1867 and it’s the perfect place to get a dose of nostalgia! There are games, shows and more at this fantastic little theme park that has a huge pool and water slides. This destination appeals to the entire family and there’s a lot of options for things to do near the park like the casino/race track located next door, and various restaurants, bars, and breweries to eat and drink at.

2. Findlay Market

You can’t miss out on taking a day trip to this incredible market that has everything you could possibly hope for or want out of a market. The food is absolutely amazing and so are the friendly people there. Findlay Market gives you a real sense of what the community is like in Cincinnati and highlights what we’re known for. The scent of fresh food is in the air, with live music on the street, plenty of places to sit and eat, and lots of different shops to check out that have locally made goods by local artisans.

3. RiverFront and The Banks

Cincinnati is one of the most beautiful river cities in America and you really get to see that when visiting the RiverFront and The Banks. The park along the water is wonderful, with many activities for the entire family to enjoy. There are sculptures and gardens that are very pleasant to encounter with an excellent view of the city. The Banks is one of the most happening places to be and there’s always a party on the weekends to join in on! When the sun goes down this area is just as beautiful with all of the city lights reflecting off the river, take a walk on one of the bridges to get the full spectrum!

4. Visit the Parks

The parks here are beyond amazing and there are several of them that offer something for everyone. Eden Park in Mt. Adams is the perfect place to have a leisure day and the best place to see views of the city. There are overlooks at the park that give you an amazing view of the river leading into downtown Cincinnati and of Kentucky, making it a great area for taking pictures. Washington Park in OTR is a major place to go to for events, live music, and pure enjoyment! It’s dog friendly and has a patio with refreshments to enjoy on a hot day.

5. Krohn Conservatory

Art, nature, and science come together at the Krohn Conservatory. Krohn is located in Eden Park in Mt. Adams and is truly an enchanting experience. The butterfly shows that they have there are magnificent and really give you the opportunity to connect with wildlife and nature in a way that’s approachable and exciting. There is a waterfall inside that has a creek with fish and turtles inhabiting it, making it feel like you’re in the rainforest. The building has sections for different species of plants and walking from one room to the next transforms a new environment to discover.

6. Cincinnati Zoo

We have one of the top rated zoo’s in the country! A zoo that is not only beautiful but is also educational and fun. The zoo does a great job to help wildlife and nature through their Saving Species program, animal care, and by going completely green with solar power.  There are different events to check out throughout the year and your trip there will feel like you’re on a real exploration of adventure.

7. Live Performances

Cincinnati has always been a hub for music and live performances! There are several venues to check out that offer a variety of different acts that appeal to every type of style and genre.  Music Hall, Memorial Hall, and The Taft Theater are historic venues that are absolutely stunning that feature talent all over the world. We also have the Aronoff and Playhouse in the park for well known shows and a few concert venues that feature locals and bring in big name performers.

8. Museums

We have some of the best museums around and there are so many to choose from! Union Terminal is one of the most incredible museums that takes you into a different world of fun and education. The building alone is a sight to see and the inside is breathtaking! There are many art museums to choose from like the Contemporary Arts Center and The Cincinnati Art Museum, which are both free to the public. We also have the American Sign Museum that is a real gem and will have you in awe when visiting!

9. Professional Sports

Go to a game! We are lucky to have major sports teams in the city and no matter what your favorite sport is you’ll be sure to have a great time at any of the games! The Cincinnati Reds baseball team and the Cincinnati Bengals football team play and practice in stadiums right next to each other, with our Cyclones Hockey team in Heritage Bank Center just down the street. And now we officially have a soccer stadium for the FC Cincinnati team!

As the long awaited heat of the summer starts to roll into June, so does the hottest celebration of the year with PRIDE MONTH! Colorful rays of joy, love, and acceptance shine brightly, bringing a stronger sense of unity and solidarity to our city! Throughout the area you can see how much the locals support the LGBTQ+ Community with rainbow flags, banners, and lights displayed on businesses all over town. Welcoming everyone to feel comfortable being their fabulous selves in Cincinnati!

Exploring any part of town you will find phrases on signs like, “Lead With Love” and “Be Yourself”.  These are positive messages of compassion and appreciation for one another that are uplifting visual reminders to live by.  Go on a journey through the city to find them and share them with kindness!

The Cincinnati Art Museum and others like it have always represented people of different backgrounds and they continue to feature artists that are diverse. Andy Warhole is the most influential gay man in Pop-Art and we have two of his pieces on permanent display.  A way you can honor how far we have come as a society is by visiting this museum and taking a peek at Andy’s Pete Rose Portrait and one of his famous Soup Cans.

Entrepreneur and fashion enthusiast Jada just dropped her new PRIDE collection that features every shade of the rainbow with her luxury sunglass line, called J. Lyshe.  Jada’s quality frames are a must have to complete a look that’s unique and fits just right. Her PRIDE collection photoshoot is a spread right out of a high fashion magazine and is a great reference for what to pair your new glasses with. The aesthetic is classic with a modern throwback, vintage vibe that makes you want every pair! PRIDE is officially out!

Selfie Galaxy, a new gallery space that’s opening soon is practicing and promoting self love and inclusivity with their selfie museum that is curated for all types of people to relate too.  This black and latino owned business was created by two women that strive to spread positivity by bringing people together and manifesting good energy in harmony.  As you walk in you’re greeted with a heartwarming mural that is a rainbow with the words, “Love is Love”.  Making this wall piece the best background for all your PRIDE selfies and group photos!  Their intention is to encourage people to have fun along with embracing what makes us happy by finding ways to express ourselves through creativity and imagination.

In front of Smale Park, near The Banks are several cascading fountains that are mesmerizing to watch. The rippling water turns into a technicolor waterfall next to the stairs leading down to the riverfront and is a magical sight to see.  A little after sunset is a great time to go to the flowing rainbow to see it turn on as the sun goes down over the city and the lights start to reflect off the Ohio river in the distance.  The scenery is gorgeous and there’s plenty of additional things to do in the area that are great for all ages.

Heritage Bank Center

Coming into Cincinnati is always a stunning sight to see but it’s looking even better these days with all of the colors of the rainbow shining along the cityscape.  As you go across the Taylor Southgate bridge you’ll see massive lights going down the sides of Heritage Bank Center that are in the color of the rainbow.  This is an incredible addition to the view of the city and there is an easy walking path across the bridge that you can go on to take it all in for a moment.

PRIDE brings a refreshing burst of creativity with performances, fashion pieces, and art of all kinds that are delightfully informative and a whole lot of fun!  There’s so much beauty to see, lovely people to meet, and wonderful things to experience in our city.  With events happening daily in each neighborhood it’s a perfect time to express yourself and join in on the festivities!

Main Street Ventures Grant Recipient: Yee Mama

Photo of Yee Mama Menu Wontons

Dora Cheng was fortunate enough to grow up with very important female role models in her life – her mother and her aunt. So, when she decided to take a leap of faith in August 2020 and launch her own wonton shop, it only made sense that she would pay tribute to those special women in the store’s name.

“In Cantonese, Yee Ma means ‘aunt,’ and mama means ‘mom,'” she explains. “I grew up calling my aunt Yee Mama because I spent a lot of time with her growing up, and I loved watching her cooking in the kitchen.”

Cheng says that Yee Mama felt like the perfect way to capture the spirit of her business and the two important female role models she has in her life. “My aunt and my mom are very different kinds of women – my mom is an independent modern woman and has her own career; my aunt is a nurturing caregiver,” she says. “They both have impacted me in significant ways. I am able to pursue my passion of starting a food business because of these two women.”

Cheng had been refining the business idea for more than two years, but finally decided to turn her dream into a reality in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Her love for wontons comes from her American and Chinese upbringing. She was born and raised in Hong Kong, and moved to America with her family when she was 17. “I have lived in several small to mid-sized cities in America and have always had a hard time finding food that reminds me of the flavors that I grew up eating in Hong Kong,” she says.

That’s when she turned to making wontons at home. Hong Kong is famous for its wontons, and this type of regional dumplings are packed with lots of fillings and have a silkier and thinner wrapper than other types of dumplings. “I want to bring this type of dumpling to Cincinnati because I think people would love it,” she says. “I always have handmade frozen dumplings stocked in my freezer – they’re quick and easy meals on days I don’t feel like cooking but taste the same as freshly made food.”

Not only is Yee Mama a unique offering unlike anything else in Cincinnati, the wonton recipes are also unique. The recipes use traditional cooking techniques and honor the Cantonese culture that Cheng, her mother, and her aunt all represent. Additionally, the ingredients used are common in Asian cooking although they are often unfamiliar in Western plates and include woodear mushroom, shiso, and fensi. “When people enjoy our dumplings, they are learning about a culture and culinary traditions,” she says. “Our recipes pay tribute to the culture and cuisine that inspire us; we don’t water down our flavors.”

Every plate served at Yee Mama also looks like a piece of art. Cheng says that the team is full of talented wonton artists who create beautiful plates. Cheng credits her team for not only their skills in creating beautiful plates but also for helping her get to where she is today. “Cathy, Juana, and Dulce, they are the reason that I can grow Yee Mama into what it is today,” she says. “There are a lot of ups and downs in starting a business, but having a supportive team makes this journey a lot more fun and meaningful.”

Since she opened up her doors in August 2020, Cheng says that her team has grown to four people and has expanded from offering pickup once a week to two days a week. They also deliver to neighborhoods within 15 miles of Findlay Kitchen.

As far as the future, Cheng says that she is working on obtaining a wholesale license and bottling sauces for retail and wholesale. “Our goal this year is to get into local grocers in every neighborhood in Cincinnati,” she adds.

To help them accomplish their growth goals, Yee Mama is the recipient of a grant from Main Street Ventures (MSV), a community-funded initiative that makes entrepreneurship possible for everyone in Greater Cincinnati, by supporting entrepreneurs with what they need, when they need it.

MSV’s primary objective is to support all entrepreneurs that show potential to create jobs and positively impact the community. MSV also supports organizations that strengthen the regional entrepreneurial ecosystem. There is a specific focus on empowering female and minority founders.

“The funding will allow us to redesign our packaging and purchase the equipment needed to package our products and bottle our sauces,” says Cheng. “We will also be able to hire additional labor needed to manage the demand of our wholesale accounts.”

You can learn more about Yee Mama by following along on Instagram and signing up for their newsletter at “We love sharing our day-to-day production in the kitchen on Instagram,” adds Cheng. “We also announce our popups and special events on Instagram and via our email subscription.”
